The Withlacoochee State Trail
(Rails to Trails)
This 46 mile paved bicycle and hiking trail runs from Dade City to Dunellon. The closest access is three miles to our west at Townsen Park, approximately the center of the trail.
We provide complimentary bicycles and helmets to guests for local use. If guests prefer not to bicycle to Townsen Park or the bicycles will not readily fit in their vehicle, we will transport the bicycles to the park and return to retrieve them at an appointed time. Many guests prefer to ride north to Floral City, have lunch, and make the return trip.
The Withlacoochee River

The Withlacoochie River is a favorite for canoeing, fishing and wildlife observation. We have a wide beamed canoe and life vests that we provide for our guests. Weather permitting, we will transport the canoe to the river and arrange a time to meet the guests to retrieve the canoe. The use of the canoe and transport is complimentary. As we are not permitted to transport guests in our vehicles we suggest paddling south and then returning with the current to the pick-up point. Swimming is discouraged due to alligators.
Early risers are welome to come to the dining room at 7:00 AM to get a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea, sit in one of our big cypress rocking chairs on the screened porch an enjoy the sunrise. Guests frequently see deer as they return to the forest after a night of grazing in our pastures. The silence is somtimes broken by the honking of sand hill cranes, hawks, and an occasional Bald Eagle as they circle looking for prey. As the sun rises flocks of wild turkey can be seen in the pasture feeding on the grass seed heads.

"We sat on the porch and heard ...........................................nothing!"

Evening Campfire

Few experiences are more relaxing than sitting under the stars by a blazing wood campfire. Weather permitting, upon request, we will supply wood  and camp chairs so guests may enjoy a time of fellowship around a cozy fire. We provide camp chairs and utensils for guests to roast mashmallows or even make Smores. Many groups of guests have been known to swap stories until the wee hours of the morning at the fire pit.
Dade Battlefield State Park

Each January history lovers gather at the Dade Battlefield Historic State park to commemorate the battle that started the Second Seminole War on December 28, 1835.
The park also offers a museum and a schedule of other events during the year.

Be sure to check the Dade Battlefield schedule of upcoming events at  www.floridastateparks.org/park/ dade-battlefield
Recreation Room

Our recreation room is well equipped with a pool table, table tennis, darts, board games, books, magazines, and a DVD library.
Many nights guests have conducted table tennis tournaments that lasted most of the night. No worries, the recreation room is located well away from our guest suites and family residence. The recreation room is open to guests 24 hours a day.

"Been there many times. It is all great! Hospitality of owners, large immaculate suites, beautiful setting, clean air, great trails for bicyclists and equestrians, river trips and more. Rates are better than hotels. And yes, a breakfast you will love."

"I visited Our Father's Haven for a weekend retreat and trail ride with friends. The accommodations for both the horses and humans were fantastic. The food and hospitality were great! I HIGHLY recommend Our Father's Haven as a place where you can relax, ride and have fun!

"Wow. This place is amazing. The accommodations are spotless. It's perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are rocking chairs right outside your room where you can sit and drink your morning coffee while you watch the Withlacoochee State Forest wake up across the street. And the porch is screened so no need to worry about mosquitos!! There are plenty of outdoor activities close by for those into ecotourism.  Or you can just sit around the place all day and veg. I have done both. I can't recommend a place more strongly than Our Father's Haven Bed and Breakfast!!!!

"I have reluctanly given five stars, only because ten is not an option. I have been staying here since 2008. I go up to mountain bike the nearby trails in the Withlacoochee State Forest, and the Cross Florida Greenway MTB trails toward Ocala. Suites are enormous, the size of mid-sized 1 BR condos, clean, comfortable, quiet. Breakfasts are huge. Hosts are warm, welcoming, funny, glad to see you and sit and visit at breakfast. Have had so many terrific visits, and each time is like the first time."

"This well-named B&B is truly a "haven" for people and horses alike. Everything is designed for the guests' comfort. from the beautifully furnished suites to the rockers on the big screened porch. (With lush pastures and roomy stalls, horses can enjoy the same level of comfort as their owners.) The property's easy access to the magnificent Withlacoochee State Forest is a real plus too; just a short walk--or horseback ride--and you're there. The breakfasts are varied and always delicious. But the best features of all are the spirit of hospitality and the quiet, restful atmosphere. It's an ideal getaway for anyone who loves a peaceful setting and a warm welcome. I've been there twice and already have reservations to go back. I can't recommend it highly enough."
